Hi guys:
I have two pumps, one left side and one right side, both pumping to the center +/-. How could I program the apex to make waves switching the pumps? I mean, one pump on while another pump is off. I will appreciate your reccommendations

i tried again and still keep getting 6 lines of error codes.. wish they had a dummy proof way of doing this without having to be a computer programmer to under stand it

Great thread, looking for something like this. Interesting idea, both pumps at one end of tank. You don't find you get any dead spots? Currently I'm running a 6100 from each rear corner of my 180, and feel I can do more with these pumps. I'll try to replicate your config, although any starting point you can recommend for a 6' tank might help

Remember that both profile and outlet names are case sensitive. Check that and see if it helps.

How do I program the timer? Is it located in the outlet setup or the profile setup? I'm looking through the apex web page and I don't see anywhere to program these:
Timer1 (turns on every 120 minutes for 10 minutes. If timer 2 is on at that time, it should remain off. OSC 120:00/010:00/000:00 Then ON If Outlet Timer2 = ON Then OFF If Time 19:30 to 11:30 Then OFF If FeedA 000 Then OFF Timer2 (turns on every 45 minutes for 15 minutes except if timer 3 is on) OSC 045:00/015:00/000:00 Then ON If Outlet Timer3 = ON Then OFF If Time 19:30 to 11:30 Then OFF If FeedA 000 Then OFF Timer3 (turn on every 15 minutes for 5 minutes except if timer 1 is on) OSC 015:00/005:00/000:00 Then ON If Outlet Timer1 = ON Then OFF If Time 19:30 to 11:30 Then OFF If FeedA 000 Then OFF |

Select 'Advanced' for the outlet type, then enter the program statements manually.

so to be clear the 3 timers are virtual, still controlling the 2 var tunze's?
2 questions: 1) can you show what prgramming changes might be needed as my lights are on a RT+ 00:00 cycle 2) I am trying to incorporate this program using 2 large korala's (on or off) a maxijet, and a 6200 programable tunze.... Any suggestions?:

It took me forever to shoot the videos. Sorry. Here's video on my 5' tank. If I set on an d off both at 3, the wave is so big water splashes out of the tank. I figure even with it as it is, the stress on the glass might not be worth it but it is so cool....

I just entered this set of profiles, and only got to see a bit of duskdawn before lights out (switch to night). This morning, lights on switched back to duskdawn, and all I have to say is that I need to make sure I'm home later today when Wave1 kicks in, or I might have a wet floor
I'm using 2 6100s, one each end of my 180, mounted top rear corner. Also have a 6080 and a 6060 in the 2 front top corners. Even with this, and the lower flow of the duskdawn, I'm getting a noticeable wave and seeing some crud floating off the rock work into suspension. Great stuff!! Today is water change day, so I may move both 6100s to one end, and move the smaller fixed speed pumps to the opposite end, lower in the tank. |

Question, not so much Apex related as it is Tunze, but using this setup, I get a fair bit of squealing from the pump driver, apparently when it shifts profiles. Anyone have this issue, or is that more related to the pump itself? I think it's just one, so maybe it just needs a good cleaning?

I tried to setup 3 timers. timer 1 and 2 were used base_var1 and base_var2. how can I change the outlet type? I don't have anymore base_var left and the next one is the base_alarm.
Please advise |

After using the OP's profile setup, I've been very happy with the water movement. I've just got a good deal on 2 6055 pumps, and I'm wondiring if anyone has incorporated additional pumps controlled by the Apex into this scenario.
Should I attempt to enhance the wave motion, and if so, how? Or should I simply use a different set of profiles to move water? Any samples would be great... |

I found the actual Neptune Apex manual to be very helpful with this type of configuration. I'm still setting up and configuring my Tunze 6095's so am not well versed to just program from memory, good luck though.

Thanks so much for this thread.
I have had my Apex for a few months and just started controlling my Tunzes with it. I was having a rough time understanding how the profiles work, but after working with this I feel like i have a handle on it. I love the controller and feel that it is worth every penny I spent on it. Thanks Again Cheers Chris |
