Brown Tetraselmis
So I have a mystery.
I had a culture of tetraselmis. A motile green algae around 13 microns and oviod. I used it to hatch decapsulated bbs. Once it got darker I strained the brine put it in a jar and on the window sill. Which I have done may times in the past as a back up. No air just natural light. So a couple of days later or so I look over and the water is now a brown red. I think oh it crashed. But since I own a microscope I throw it under the microscope. Low and behold there are lots of oviods swimming around about 13 microns. I can only assume that the algae is now simply brown/red. I've read of T-iso sometimes being brown or green but never Tetraselmis. I don't suppose someone with more experience is lurking around. A marine microbiologist?

I think I managed to find an explanation.
It was the stress from changing for being on a bubbler in front of a light to not bubbler in front of a window. https://www.researchgate.net/post/Wh...reen_to_Yellow If I get time to play with it I'll split the culture and put 1/2 of it back on a bubbler to see if it greens back up. Leave 1/2 in front of the window to see if it greens back up. Learn something new everyday
