Coral dieing need help
I have a toadstool that looks like it as several bites out of it, and 2 sets of buttons that are not opening and slowly vanishing (a few still open not many)
Not really sure what's causing these and how to fix it, would really be gratefull of any advice. Recent changes: My flowerpot coral was dying, it turned out my kh and calcium had become unstable, I have since fixed this with the tmc v2 react calcium reactor (3 weeks ago) and it looks like the flowerpot coral is slowly starting to come back out. No other changes in the tank All my params are good and at 0, except for phosphate, which is 0.8 but its allways been like that in the whole year I have had the tank. MG 1400 sal 1.025 KH 10.6 Cal 440 ph 8.0 Stock: Bubble coral - Doing great Hammer coral - Doing great 6 Ricardos and still more appearing, all doing great Toadstool - other then the bite marks doing ok Button corals - Gone from lots of polyps to only a few and hardly any of them open Male and Female clown Fish Sea Urchin aptasia eating fish blue and yellow wrasse lawnmower blenny sally light foot crab bristle starfish Mandarin Tank is the TMC signature (250l) Bubble magnus skimmer tmc v2 react 300 calcium reactor v2illuinair tmc lights (any tips on settings would be helpfull) 2 power heads System as been setup up for just over a year now, also one last thing I have recently noticed on one of my rocks, like grey/white spots/specs |

Watch your file fish. Mine has ate some corals. Your po4s are high too. What test kits are you using?

I'd say that phosphate needs to come down by at least half.

Granular ferric oxide. IMO one of the first things to try to bring down phosphates. The best way is in a reactor but you can just throw a bag in(won't work nearly as well). Check out BRS they have plenty of options. Should easily bring that down for you and quickly. If you do use it they have a calculator as well to determine how much to be used.

I imagine your filefish is munching on your corals.
If your Ca was unstable, it may have killed off some coraline algae on your rocks. May account for the white spots. Can you take a post a pic?

Setup a camera to watch your tank for you. You may also have something coming out at night. So, you may need to check your tank for any critters in the middle of the night. Use a red light to look in your tank at night.
