high TDS after running RODI backwards

Hi guys.. wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction here. I have a spectrapure CSPDI 90GPD.

One sleepy morning I switched the outlet to the inlet tubes and ran the RODI flow backwards into the DI resin. I heard a "pop" and when I switched it back the TDS reads about 60-80 constantly after a few hours of running when it used to read 2-3 coming out of the RO membrane.

I took the whole unit apart and put it back together but can't tell what's broken. I'm guessing its the RO membrane since the rejection rate is so low now. Hoping someone has any advice before I purchase a new RO membrane.

Thanks!

I would call/email Spectrapure directly. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. I’ve asked them questions many times.

I wonder if it messed up your flow restrictor? What is your current waste to good water ratio? Should be around 4 to 1.

Reads like there is a hole in the membrane.

Thanks for the responses. I contacted spectrapure and they said I need to replace the RO membrane.

I thought it was the flow restrictor too but I am getting 4:1 ratio range. Will update this thread if that fixes it in case anyone else runs into this issue.

Replace the membrane with a 99% from Spectrapure. Consider it an upgrade.

The membrane was the issue. Running the unit backwards was costly!
