I have the S-200, and I have not had any problems with air-draw after startup. Maybe eshopps fixed the issue, like how they added a skimmate drain.

I wonder about the startup issue's, are you guys having that issue pulling 120v from your outlet. I remember this issue coming up with skimmers in the past that were only getting 110-115v and as soon as you plugged it into an outlet with 120v it fired right up. Personally if I have to blow in an air tube to get the skimmer to fire up, i'm not using it as power does go off from time to time. A skimmer should never have to be manually started.

Installed the S-200 yesterday, wow what a skimmer! What have you guys been doing for breaking it in? I just let the skimmer run with 100% air and closed the gate till I had bubbles at the top of the neck. Surprised I got about a 1/8" of skim in the cup. Im thinking of letting it sit like this for 48hr and spend a good portion of a day tuning it. In my old tank I had a skimz sm201 and in order to get it tuned I had to cut its air down drastically then control the height with the gate because that pump sucked way to much air. I have a feeling its the same with the Sicce 1000 pump

Good to know, thats exactly where I set mine but with the cup in. I had a 1/8" of brown water in the cup this morning before work. On my frag tank I have a PSK-75H and I set the s-200 the same. I'm very happy with the skimmer build quality but changes that I would have done. - put in a longer screw for the gate and have a nut to keep the gate from unscrewing from the gate. -Thicker acrylic on the skimmer body Question in the box with the pump and bubble plate I found a clear O-ring about 1" I can't find anything where this would go |

If it's the same size as the black o ring it likely just a duplicate. I can't help with the drain as I had an early model which didn't have one.

Looking into buying one of these for 75 gallon. Which one should I go with x220 or s200. The x220 has a higher tank rating and doesn’t seem to have the air intake issues that the sseries has. Should I go with one of these or a different skimmer.

Let me bump this thread my skimmer won't skim at all. I've let it sit gate closed gate open air silence open air silence closed for months. I will not skim at all I have it in eshopps s200 sump and it's just below 8. Now I've read this and a lot notes it worked properly at 8 1/2 But my water level in my sump is max at 8 at the moment. I guess I can try to raise it but I just don't understand why I can't get the skim yo reach the collection cup.

How big is your tank? Bioload? Carbon dosing at all?

80 gallon. Clown, Scopus tang, two damsels and a royal gama. Clean up crew.
Also raised the level a bit about 8 3/4 Not skimming much still No carbon dosing Trates 5-10 If this makes a difference I put filter media in the over flow to quite down the stand alone pipe. Basically the overflow is only one drain. So I drilled a bunch of holes in to the stand alone pipe and stuck some filter media down there to quite the noise. Sent from my SM-J727T1 using Tapatalk

Ok i was gonna say you have way too big of a skimmer for just a few fish. I have a s120 on a 90 gallon and it has been great for a couple years now. I don't even know what water height it is in exactly, maybe 8ish inches. Can you take the cup off and adjust it wide open to where it is flowing water over? Should be able to adjust it without the cup on from barely bubbling up the neck to spilling over, air intake always open.

All I can hear is a very low hum. Not even noticeable until I shut it off then when it comes back on.
