What ever happened to beautiful Crocea
As the tittle said,jI wonder why there are no beautiful Crocea lately? Crocea used to be and are the most beautiful of all clams. Small too and easy to keep as long as we have enough light. I really missed these nice small clams. Anybody with any clue as to where I can get these beauties again?

I've been wondering the same thing for years. They used to have those beautiful blues and greens. An owner of a LFS told me that he used to get them from Vietnam but I think there has been an import ban on them for last several years.

What about all those farm raised Crocea?
I guess the only market for Farm Crocea is the aquarium industry. Too small and too slow growing for food. We just don't buy enough of them I guess.

Do I have enough light for Crocea?
I am interested in getting a Crocea for my 32G all-in-one tank with a AI Prime HD LED.
Attached is a photo of what I am thinking of getting. Do I have enough light to make this happy? Right now, the LED sits 10" above the water. From Light to the Sandbed is 28". My water parameters are: 78F, 1.025, 430 Ca, 8.5 dKh, 1500 Mg, 8.3 pH. The sandbed is CaribSea Oolite aragonite 1.0mm. |

tlreefs seem to have nice maxima, and healthy too. I am looking for an ultra Crocea and did not find one there.

Not sure if links are allowed but i follow this shop on FB. He breeds his own clams and it is really cool to check out all his photos.
https://www.facebook.com/Acroalperth/ Perth Marine Giant Clam Aquaculture. Not 100% sure if he ships to the US or not. |
