NEW TANK Midwest Cutoms or SCA aqaurium
Hey guys,
Getting a new tank nothing fancy 150 gallon with stand and canopy. Do I go acrylic and more custom with Midwest or cheaper glass and SCA. I have spoken with Chris from midwest and he seems like a stand up guy. Touch when you are buying sight unseen |

I can't speak for Midwest customs but I'm very happy as are many others with there SCA tanks. I have the 45g and so far zero issues and no complaints. If you contact steve at sca he can also custom make a tank for you but will be a bit more costly then an off the shelf tank and stand.

I am currently working with Steve on customizing a tank. Can't speak to the quality yet, but he seems responsive and happy to do exactly what I want. I am choosing him based on other reviews I have read about SCA on here, and how responsive Steve is thus far.

I have a 120 gallon SCA tank that has been set up for 2-1/2 years and it has been a great tank. I cant speak for Midwest but I would never own an acrylic tank again, they are wat too east to scratch.

You might have led with that...
OK, even if its a vivarium or static non-living showcase, everything needs cleaning eventually. One just has to be much more careful when doing so with acrylic. Heck, even low-iron glass tends to scratch more readily than standard glass . The one big thing the acrylic aquarium (or whatever it will be used for) will have going for it is lighter weight.

I can vouch for Chris at Midwest custom. No nonsense, fully custom, and good prices.
