Is the Acan game over?

Went into my LFS this weekend, specifically looking for some acans. He usually has decent frags for 20 or 30 bucks. It has been awhile since I came in but I noticed he didn't have any new ones in. I asked and was told he sold some of his mother colonies and hasn't been brining in frags because they haven't sold good in awhile. Was news to me, they are my favorite and I thought they where still popular. maybe not what they where a few years ago but still some some on the expensive side.

I don’t know about a game, but for me personally, they slowly crept up in price over time to the point where they’re too expensive to be worth it. That, and I like to keep angelfish and run tanks with high flow rates so they don’t typically survive long.

I never really got into the acan game (hype) but have noticed there is less talk about them like before. I have also noticed the "rainbow" versions are not as pricey as well. Who knows though, if Australia ever bans exports like Indonesia did then I am sure the price will go back up.

Easy to find up here in the north but real, expensive as stated above.
Seen a rainbow Acan yesterday, nice size, maybe hand size.
Price-$749.95 (no,kidding)
Been a month now, still on sale.
Ultra A's, maybe 2"x3" run 130-280

wow! to that price above. I have seem some larger frags or colonies go that high around here but have seen plenty of nice sized frags for under 40. I just got a 2 polyp rainbow like (blue, orange, red and purple) frag for 25 bucks. Similar one a few years back would be 100+. I have 2 local shops and both have similar numbers on them (one is more that the other though for sure)

Every coral seems to have a run where the prices are crazy until the hype dies down. Acans, chalices, bounces are starting to die down some now, scolys. Even the big name acros of today will be $30 frags eventually. Just the way it goes.

Picked both these up near Philly for 40 a piece. LFS owner just recently got in a gaggle of new acans, so maybe locally they are picking up?
