Help me decide

Morning all,

I am trying to decide what lighting upgrade for my cube. Tank measures 24 w x 18 l x 24 t, currently i have a 150 w 14k metal halide pendant does ok but does not show off the colors very well. I plan on a mixed but leaning towards more Sps and clams.

Any and all comments are welcome.

I voted for the AI 26 although the prime would work as well. You could also consider a Kessil A360W. I light my 120DT with 2 x AI Sol Blues and like them very much. My 60g FT (4x2x12") is lit with 2 x A360W's and the biggest issue I have is acclimating new frags to the FT due to the increased power of the Kessils

Current Tank Info: 120 mixed reef with 40b sump, RO 150 skimmer, AI Sol Blue x 2, and a 60g Frag Tank with 100g rubbermaid sump. 2 x Kessil A360w lights, BM curve 5 skimmer

Keep what you have just switch to a good quality 20K MH bulb. They will show off the color better than a 14K will. It will also be great for SPS and be the least expensive choice amongst the ones you listed.

Look at the ReeFi-Lab pendant. It has an adjustable glass lens, 150 watts of Cree leds, very good PAR, way more blue than white, a good amount of violet and true UV, 5 channel color control, super sunrise/sunset control and it's priced right.

It's a new start up and I just bought one to try over my 2'x2' frag tank. I'm impressed and I had some software issues that they helped me with right away. Check out their website (google ReeFi-Lab) and if you want to know more about my opinion, send me a PM.

I voted for the 6 bulb supplemented with Porcupines but really a 20 K bulb for the next 9 months will help you decide what you really want

Voted for the 4 bulb ATI. But you will want to add actinic led strips to both side of the fixture.

Hey Mark, my opinion so take it for what it's worth.

1. Will 150 be enough light if you take it to 20k? I personally don't think so. Adding a couple T5's and staying with a 14 k bulb would be better though. Regular bulb replacement.

2. Borderline on light.

3. My choice but I'll get to it last.

4. Borderline on light. Regular bulb replacement.

5. Better on light. More bulbs to regularly replace.

6. Fine on light and bulb replacement, but can you deal with the fart smell on taco Tuesdays??

On the AI 26HD. Plenty of light. No bulbs to replace. All colors fully adjustable from your phone or a tablet. Cost is less than both ATI's with a controller.

Such a tough decision.
My reef system is split up into 3 interconnected tanks with a common 100 gallon sump.
Section #1 is the 93 cube that has the 2 Hydra 52's, and grows colored sticks like mad.
Section #2 is the 65 Clarity plus frag tank thingy that has a single 14K 175w SE MH that grows SPS frags just fine, but needs 20K for better color.
Section #3 is the lagoon with 6 4' T5HO bulbs that grow anything.

Dontcha wish you kept yer 52's?

I will. They make that and a flex arm. Having two, I figured with the one above it would be easier to keep both the same.

So Mark, I know you had the 52's. What did you do for programing? There's a thread here you can download to the HD's.

Jesse to be a hundred percent honest I have seen Johns tanks with my old 52's and Wazzles program and it kicks butt in both growth and color rendition. That program has it dialed in correctly.

I will dig up my old program a little later
