mls228’s SCA 150g Build Thread

I’ve been working on the stand design. I’m going for all 3/4 hardwood plywood construction (probably birch).

Planning 1” plumbing. Will repurpose my old Genx PCX40 return pump 1190gph as the muscle.

More stand progress. Lots of screws and glue. The wet looking parts are just from the glue cleanup.

nice work on the stand.

is it going to be completely enclosed or are you going to saw an opening at the back for air circulation?

Hadn’t thought that far but if need vent I’ll install drill and install two DC low voltage fans.

I bought it from Craigslist for $200 after considering an Emerald Trigger sump. I liked the bigger size and design and clean look. It’s rumored to be a Simply Nano LLC sump from a Burlington NJ business but I’m not sure. It’s professionally made and I’m happy with it.

did you use any kind of edging on the plywood edges or did you just stained the edges?

I used iron on edge banding then trimmed with a router but a razor blade would trim well too. Worked great.
