DIY Dosing

Hi,

I would like to make my own solutions for dosing calcium, iodine, magnesium molbenum, strontium etc. I teach science at high school and have access to all the stuff I need and I have search for recipies on how to make them. BUt...none of these recipies have any information about how much to dose.

I have some Kent Marine stuff and it is very specific on how much to dose, like 5 ml/50 gallons and then like once per week, daily, etc. But none of the DIY recipies has this information.

Kind of stumped at this point.

The guidelines that they give on the commercial products are just a wild guess, and I would ignore them. For calcium, magnesium, and strontium, I would recommend that you use test kits to determine how much the tanks require. From there, we could compute the doses given the strength of the solutions that you make. You could use the standard DIY recipes for calcium and magnesium. This calculator shows how much to dose:

Iodine kits can be tricky, so that parameter might be harder. I'm not convinced that dosing is useful. I stopped dosing and never noticed a difference.

For trace elements, there's no practical way of determining how much to dose.

I mix Randys alk solution in a one gallon "milk "jug, two cap fulls of the lid raise my 40 breeder .5
