Question Good cheap point and shoot for fish/coral pictures

Hey guys,

Looking for recommendations on point and shoot cameras that are in the ~$200 range that will take good pictures of fish and coral.

We have a DSLR as well, but want something a bit more rugged and maybe waterproof.

What should I look for?

Thanks!

What are your thoughts on this?

Looks to be good at high speed and low light as well.

Should be ok. It does shoot in raw. I don't know the lens line-up or whether there's a macro for it.

Nikon 1's are solid cameras. They have some of the fastest AF out there out of any camera. If you decide to get a J1 body or with the kit 10-30mm lens then this is all you need to make it waterproof and also allow for macro.

Then get the Nikon N1-CL1 close up lens but that one will be kinda of hard to get.

Another option for macro is to get a Raynox DCR-150 and a 40.5-43mm step-up ring.

Thanks Gus

Waterproof is going to be a necessity!

Then I would jump on the nikon waterproof case asap. That case won't last long at that price.

Hey Gus,

I ordered both the N1 and case and the Fuji XP70.

Hopefully one will work out

Nice. Did you get a good deal on the J1? I have a Nikon V1 myself but it has now been replaced by a Sony a6000. Thinking about picking up a J1 or J2 used and the waterproof case for some fun.
