I am all for techie stuff....BUT...a robo glass cleaner seems useless unless you have a HUGE tank. I wouldnt want some ugly gadget stuck to my viewing pane all the time.

Medium size mag float $15.
10mins of looking admiring the tank while
moving the $15 magnet and buying
$185 worth of coral.
Priceless/lot better than that robot magnet.

Moai robot glass cleaner

I'm more interested in the camera part of it rather than the cleaning.

$200 for a camera that I can control remotely and have good pictures of my tank while at work!?! Priceless!

i wouldnt be surprised if the camera was the original goal, and they added the cleaning to make it worth a few extra bucks lol

if they just made it a movable camera and charged 50-75 bucks less. i'd be all for it if the camera was good quality.

They definitely need to offer a way to remove the scraper part. I would buy it just to use it as a remotely controllable camera. Nice way to spy on your fish from the office.

They respond to me today in regards to sand:

MOAI Q has a 360° navigation system and knows where it is on aquarium. You can set working area above sand bed with MOAI Q mobile app to prevent sand stuck.

so you could just buy one for each wall of the tank? lol.

You know what though, pool robots have been doing this kinda thing forever, although pool robots that work via suction would probably be somewhat dangerous in a tank, lol....but i am somewhat surprised no one has made a "tank robot" til now. Now, if it could cross over the corners, hah. That'd be sweet.

i know a guy running a 24/7 live fish stream, i bet he'd love this thing. It's pretty damn tempting for that purpose, too. Just yet another remote monitoring tool to pair with your various controllers/seneyes/etc...

sandbed not issue

it says it can be programmed to stay away from the sandbed...
I cannot see sand getting in between it and glass if it is p;rogrammed proper
but I guess there is a bit of a risk with anything really....
If it cleans well I would try one....but ...if it leaves any algae on the front
glass then its just a camera....which like people have said is pretty cool.
The scary part is we need to be around our tanks MORE often not LESS often....bad things happen when we not around usually lololo

So as long as it does not cause someone to neglect their tank its a neat toy.
The hobby itself to a certain degree is like a big interesting toy. lolol

I think the cleaning part is pretty important for the camera. you want it to somewhat wipe the glass before snapping the shot.

This device popped up on my Facebook feed today.... marketed by a company named "This is Good Good" for $199.

Has anyone pulled the trigger on one of these?

EDIT: ok, their MOAI web site still links to kickstarter... so does Good Good.... which states that they have doubled their kickstarter goal.

I backed it, anxiously awaiting shipment....

Unfortunately, I’ve got a bad track record with Kickstarter programs. Lots of dollars, no results....

Cleaning is a great time to admire your tank and do a health check. I'm not sure I should be reefing if I can't clean the glass.
