Actually I revise my previous statement disrespecting the scope. It's not fancy, has no "features", but...
Precise fine focus, clean sharp image at plane of focus, decent magnification, and heavy metal scope with little vibration.
The good phone camera compensates for the rest - additional magnification, and compensates for the color of the terrible yellow microscope light.

I got one for my kid and tried to use it.

http://exploreone.com/products/40x-6...hic-microscope

I can't see anything in my water with it.

Been to long...

What's left of some hair algae after playing around with that Vibrant product. Noticed a few bubbles on the HA and figured I might find some dinoflagellets

So the Vibrant seems to have killed the hair algae?

I certainly can't say it has with at least my system. My ATS was never impacted and its been way to long for any certainty that the vibrant is responsible for the very slow recession of the algae above the pump.

On another note I believe I just witnessed an amoeba consume a walking ciliate.

A walking ciliate being consumed by an amoeba. I didn't realize what was happening right away then by the end of this video I did and started another one.
https://youtu.be/TNDQjp2AXgE

https://youtu.be/aElpojtZstw

Not much happened after as it seems the amoeba had a mouthful and didn't move from that spot for a couple hours I would assume digesting. Slide dried out by then

Yep. I'm having a nice little bloom of pineapple sponges in my mantis tank. A stereo scope would probably be better for these as they are fairly dense. I am having to use a concave slide as they are to thick otherwise for a standard slide and cover slip

Pretty much what I thought it was going to be. Lots of dense spicules. Found at high magnification some were jagged.

Lots of diatoms living in with it which makes sense as they are hungry for silica.
