Strongly considering adopting a wild caught Semi-Picasso...If I can find a good potential mate for it, I might go for the semi-picasso.

My clowns totally ignored my BTA for 9 months, discovered it one day, now hardly leave it. Go figure…

Today is the 1 year anniversary of the clowns in my care. They still spawn on a regular basis. Below is a picture of them from today and of their 7 month old offsprings from yesterday.

How are your blue and tan/purple gigs doing?
Can you elaborate or point me in the direction of some applicable reading. Do light anemones lighten clowns' color and darks darken? Same with torch corals?

You can see the most recent discussion of clowns losing/gaining color in this thread:
http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2627585

It's usually the Type of anemone, not color that causes color changes in clowns.

Walked into LFS yesterday and saw a small wild Onyx true perc. He looks just like the true pair of Onyx clowns I had before that came from Quality Marine. First pic at LFS. Second pic in his new home. He's fairly small and I'll try to pick up another wild Onyx clown to pair him up with. He's eating well and has shown a very curious personality thus far.

Time for big updates. I broke up my latest pair of clowns to pair up the male with a smaller wild onyx clown pictured in April 15 post.
The breeding male that was all super black is now a female. I noticed that about 3 months after I paired up the male with a smaller clown, his black color started to fade especially near his dorsal fin. I assume it is now a she. It is highly likely that color fading is related to sex change because now she does not have to flash and entice anyone into mating. On the flip side I noticed that the new male has gotten a little darker. Their diet has remained the same. The anemone also had nothing to do with color fading because the clowns did not have it until a few days ago. They were without a host for 6 months prior to that. I am going to let them enjoy the H. Magnifica anemone for a little while and then find a nice Gigantea anemone to bring that black color back.

Here's what he used to look like when he was a male:

Update:
Sadly, I lost the pair of clowns shown in the previous post. The cause was stray voltage. However, thanks to a dear friend in Orange County, I got a new pair of wild caught Onyx clowns that came from another hobbyist's tank. The male is gorgeous and the female is nice too although she isn't quite as black as the male. They are supposed to be a spawning pair and hopefully I'll be raising a clutch or two from them in the near future.

sorry to hear about your other clownfish. The new ones are awesome. We have a poor selection of LFS in the DC area and sadly none would order wild caught anymore.

Time for an update:
I currently have 3 pairs of wild Onyx and Onyx/True Percula clownfish combos. Pair 1 and Pair 2 were acquired this past weekend. Pair 3 has been together for about a month. Pair 3 is going to a new home this week. Here are some pics.
Pair 1 (came from another hobbyist friend's home)
