I always rinse the food before giving it to my fish (or anemones). Also I doubt tap water makes that much of a difference when it comes to phosphate and nitrate loads (unless it comes from an agricultural area). The amount of water in the food is just too small.
What may rather cause elevated phosphates and nitrates is the bleeding of the food organisms.

Not all bacteria are equally bad for anemones. The ones on food may or may not be harmful. Also, it is almost impossible to tell which food contains which bacteria. This actually depends more on where the food was harvested than anything else.

How much was the pair if you don't mind my asking. I've been amazed at the prices of some of the designer clownfish. The designer clowns came about while I was on leave from the hobby.

Though those Premnas are not really designer clowns, more rare variations found in the wild (PNG & Solomons).

Awesome, I'll be doing my upgrade in a few weeks. I've got everything but I just had spine surgery a little over 3 weeks ago and on Wed had to go in for emergency surgery to get rid of a bad infection that hit. So might be a while.
Do you have any full tank shots?

Thanks for the well wishes and trust me, I really can't wait for the healing to be done. I've had leg pain/numbness since an accident in 97 so this is a very long time coming.
Tank looks great, I didn't think I'd like one that minimal but yours looks great. What size is it? Mine is only a 40b and that's as big as I want to go on a mixed reef/fish tank. I've had up to 200 gal in the past and it's just too much work IMO. So I'm going to keep it simple.

They cost me 300$ it's not a mates pair but broodstock ready. They Are together at all times and sleep together so that's a good sign. I'm getting a frosted rainbow bubble tip anemone from the same guy for them . It's going to be my "special" tank.

I'm going to have my 125 gallon and the 55 with the clowns. They will have the entire 55gallon to themselves.

I saw in another post you put up that you are keeping this pair in a 55gal tank? Why so large, if in fact you are going to be raising young? A 20 gal would be so much easier to deal with all the way around, especially when collecting the lava after they hatch. I think in most cases people who breed go with 10 gal for the most part. Of course this is all speculating that you are going to actually raise them. Don't think I've actually seen a frosted BTA. Do you have a picture of it?

Collecting larva is the most inefficient way when breeding clownfish. Best is to either keep them in a ceramic flowerpot, or if you give them an anemone to offer a flowerpot shard for them to lay their eggs on. That way you can move the eggs to the larva tank the evening before the hatch and lose next to none.
