Glass thickness confusion

Hi all,

I've lurked here for a long time and am hoping someone can help me understand glass thickness as it relates to eurobrace/thicker bottoms/internal bottom bracing.

I *was* tossing around the idea of a DIY glass tank that is 48w x 26d x 24h (funny dimensions bc it needs to fit in a certain spot). I've made up to a 90 gallon tank that is still just fine as far as I know (gave it to a friend before we moved). But then my rational side piped up and I thought it would at least be worth getting custom build quotes. I talked to some folks who said they'd do a eurobraced (on top) tank in those dimensions with a 5/8" bottom and 1/2" sides. Does this sound right to you??

It seems like the safety factor that gives me would work for a fully rimmed tank. Wouldn't it need an interior bottom brace at the very least, if it didn't have a full rim? I can find calculators for rimless and calculators with full rims but not anything between. Wondering what others think.

While I've never built a tank, I would think the full upper eurobrace would be just like a top rimmed tank.

That sounds about right to me. My 75 had 3/8" glass with a standard rim. You can always ask for 3/4 on the bottom to get away from the extra bottom brace. Your dimensions are for about what, a 48" 125gal?

I like the dimensions, btw.

Sounds right to me, 6 ft 125 18" tall is 3/8"

New 280 is 6ft long 31" high, eurobraced and 1/2" glass

Yup just about. So with 1/2" and braced top and bottom, it should be OK? The plan was to float the bottom, if that makes a difference.
