What a great thread I run red sea pro and my alk stays at 12 even with not adding anything to the tank to maintain it in over a week
I have been told to switch salts to get alk down to around d 9dkh for dps which I want to keep

Years ago I was using SeaChem. Just got back into the hobby and for some reason SeaChem is gone. But just setting up a new tank now and cycling rock with Aquaforest Reef Salt. It's pretty cheap, the packaging looks cool, so giving it a try.

I'll be honest I don't even alter the alk of my IO with acid even though I run my tank at 7.0 dkh. A 10% water change gives me a negligible alk bump and my sps grow so fast it ends up evening out and not causing a cumulative upward trend

Plain old instant ocean. If it's good enough for all the zoos and aquariums, it's good enough for me.

+1 for the Fritz RPM. They are really gaining some traction from what I hear.

I like it because it keeps my big three stable and it is reasonably priced. I pay $55 out door at my lfs and I think I could even find it cheaper but I want to buy something from them on occasion.

I also just switched to Fritz RPM. It mixes up quickly and clean.

It seems to dissolve better then RC.

Just started jury is still out, only reason I switched was the store was out and it was all they had, which is a really decent reef shop.

Fritz RPM... mixes quickly with little precipitation, lower alk than I/O, still pretty inexpensive. I've noticed the price rising lately though. FWIW, it's supposedly "made" in USA.

Used to use IO for around three years then switched to RS. IO has this nasty brown sediment issue which gets on the bucket sidewalls!

I use Red Sea and get the brown side walls. I believe that it is not sediment but algae growth. When I rub it off it turns the water green.
