pump change ?

Hi Can anyone advise.. I have a boyo EP35 pump wondering on reccommendations on whether the water itself in the pump needs totally or partially cleaning and changing etc or best left not doing that and just keep changing media's inside as required. Any advice gratefully received as always !

you can siphon some out when changing media. just to remove some detritus.
