just got done my second water change since i got the extra di canister an carbon block. the coral are starting to look a ton better, i think it was the lack of water changes and high unwanted heavy metals that were taking a hit on them
as of now dosing nothing besides 2 part at 24ml a day, was only 18 a day before water changes so that is good to see that.

Good luck, Cody.
Hopefully the fresh saltwater will make the difference.. It certainly helped one of my tanks, a while back. I started to have all the hard corals struggle. Lps were detaching from the base and sps were declining with stn. Over the course or a month , I did multiple 50% waterchanges and it completely turned around the tank. I blame everything on depletion and accumulation. The wcs rebalanced everything. I hope it works for you.

I hope so, still going to continue monitoring all the params every day.
So far so good Quote:
The pieces that had shown decline are looking a lot better and mostly after I blew the algae off the top it is not growing again and some even have PE coming out from the "burnt" tips or whatever was going on. Going to try to take some pictures every other day of the corals to track "hopefully" the progression. In other news for my other tank that I set up. 240g long that is 96 inches. I have finally cycled it and added a large blue angelfish, male naso tang with streamers, coral beauty and a kole tang. This is just going to be a FOWLR but it was good to finally add fish to it.

Glad your corals are starting to bounce back! Whenever my corals start to look a little off, I just do a few water changes and they look happy again.
That's cool you're setting up a FOWLR. It's going to be it's own system?

Yeah I am hoping they continue to get better but any progress I will take. The FOWLR is on the other side of the house, in the dining room so it is its own system. So far it is taking away my attention from my SPS with the awesome fish in there but I am sure that will only last so long since they are brand new

Alk has been 7 or 7.3 everytime I have tested it last week, since the corals look as good as ever since I moved my tank last year I am going to keep them here. The PE they have during the day and also during the night is the best I have seen since I moved houses.

Good to hear. Now just leave it alone and keep it steady and it'll be great.

Nice Cody. Now comes the hard part: doing nothing and waiting and watching.
I've never been able to do this part!

Best of luck with everything taking off, but most of all with the waiting and watching part. lol. I struggle with the desire to keep tinkering with the routine.
Can you give the type or names of the corals in the last five pics? Some look very interesting with great PE. I want to watch because they may need to get added to my shopping list. Thanks and will be following along. Kevin |

No idea on the first one, that was a no namer. The second was sold to me as an oregon tort. The third, I forget what it is haha The forth is Blood Red Milli from Battlecorals The fifth is Old Blue Milli from Battlecorals. I am going to try to take some more pictures tonight with a filter to hopefully get the blue out of those pictures. Also did a water change earlier, everything is looking great still. Alk tested at 7, Calc at 430. Honestly not really worried about phosphates and nitrates just feeding a lot as normal with only my skimmer and cheato. Keeping things as simply as possible

Going to take some pictures later tonight, I am a little nervous for the coming up week as I am going on vacation from the 10-17th and my friend who is staying over with my dog knows nothing about saltwater but hopefully I can teach him something about it.
I am going to be adding 2 Lamarck Angelfish on the 17th. That is the plan for now at least. Do I have to add one male and one female? I know I cant add 2 males, but could I possibly add 2 females?

Put some names with these! I think they are a lot better than your previous pictures.

Just updated with some names, but majority are no namers since I did not want to get expensive pieces since I am still recovering. Hopefully in the next couple months
