DIY leds...now with arduino Controlled lights...

first from the beginning...

I was of course endoctrinated by this 2 guys...
Soundwave and Santoki...

So I gain courage and bought:

2 large aluminum heatsinks
several pc heat fun

36 XR-e Cree royal blue
42 XP-g Cree white

12x 700 mA bucks with pwm control (more on that later)
the bucks have 7 leds in serie in case of xp-g and 6 in the case of theh XR-e

power supply of 24 Volts with 10 Amps...

An Arduino clone diecemilia, with 1 lcd shield for that. (used for "robotic" projects.... with some pins capable of pwm control)

lenses only for the larger aperture XP-g, of 45ş.

artic silver glue compound
(I attached the pcb of the leds with that glue)

I even soldered the XR-e emitter with some star pcb I got, very nasty job, but better than in the factory, I can manage less distance between the leds and the pcb, for the xp-g I think because of the size, I couldn't do it...

at full strengh I got something in the vicinity of 175 watts.
for my tank 120x60x60 cms

The arduino code is still improving, but some of the features I want, I already was able to do...when I press the on button the light went to a increase status, only after 15 minutes I get the full power...
moonlight (with only the XR-e royal blue)
my camera cannot save the fluorescences...
No more talk here is the image and the videos
Sorry about my lausy english...

playing with pwm and thte arduino:

one image with the tank lightened with the leds...

See the arduino at working...
the fluorescence is magnific, I wonder why my camera cannot see that...
maybe too much blue.

I didn't documented the work in progress, sorry... but it was like Santoki project:
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...readid=1587273

the biggest difference, was using XP-g for the whites instead, and XR-E for the royal blues, both with 700 mA bucks...

another big difference, was the type of the bucks, I used this ones instead:

http://www.led-tech.de/en/LED-Contro...2_118_119.html

it has the pwm capability that i wanted, it operates reversed, so they don't claim compatibility, but it does work.
at 0 it does max light, with 255 no light at all... (with the arduino)
http://www.arduino.cc/
it as some pins that are capable of pwm, not all...
but programming this is simple...

If you want I even could put my code in here...

but it's kind of big. I can send to anyone the code...

I connected the grounds of the arduino and the power supply, the pwm capable pin to the + pwm in the bucket...

and that is it...
