Nighttime Photography

I LOVE taking pics at night - thankfully, my camera is exceptionally good at low light and long exposure photography. I thought I would share some of my favourite pics.

Share your favourite nighttime pic~!

Claudia, I'm a sports (mostly race cars) and nature photography guy. So for me, quick and easy zoom is more important than low light ability. So I have a Nikon P900 which has a 24mm to 2000mm zoom but is awful at low light.

So I'm curious, what camera do you use?

BTW, your photos were very nice... several really caught my attention!

I guess I should have posted my camera specs.

Sony a7Rii - 42 MP full frame mirrorless camera
Carl Zeiss 16-35mm lens

The reason the camera is so good at low light is because it is backside-illuminated, meaning they move all the electronics to the back of the sensor leaving more room for larger pixels. Normally a camera with this resolution would not be as good.

Majority of my night-time shots are of my cars...

But I'll get the occasional city shot...

And try to get out a night or two on holiday...

You may not wish to believe - but it was pitch black out when this was taken. Didn't even know those Alpacas were there...

Very cool! What a lucky shot catching the lightning strike.

You reminded me that I had a couple night pics from my trip to Hawaii and Vegas. One is sunset, not nighttime, but I really dig it.

Night time photography looks great if we can capture the light traits as well. In Huawei honor 8lite there is a feature in camera where you could capture the lights traits at night and that looks great too.
