Thank you all for the help and input so far; seems like it's obvious it will be somewhat of a risk, but after hearing the nano stand is mdf as well, maybe one worth taking!
@MrIcky, you are right, for $200 I may also look into getting something custom built, might be the best route if I can find someone good. |

So i just got my koralia 750 (it sure does seem big for this tank but i got it for $22 online) and i have it mounted on the side of the tank. The problem i have is the power cord goes over the side of the tank and will not allow my canopy to shut all the way. Should i just cut a notch in the canopy just big enough for the cord to fit through or have any of you done something different?

If you look at the back edge of the canopy, you'll see some thinner areas that are notched thinner for easy drilling. You don't want the canopy sitting on the cord- it will eventually cut the cord. I've drilled so many holes in my canopy now...lol. I think I need to do a wood canopy or something at this point. |

Looking at the tank it's on the far right hand side between the hinge and edge of the tank.

Sorry to get off topic but the JBJ LED Hood or Nanotuners 4.6 LED hood worth it?
I think I may go with the overflow box, the only thing is with the box is to have some safety like Water Sensors, Check Valve im guessing. |

Anyone have a DIY LED mod on their 28g? I am not sure if RapidLed's 24 dimmable diy kit would be enough light for a mixed reef tank . Any suggestions?

Let me add if you are a constant upgrader, I'd probably still go LED, but I'd get something modular so I could take it with me to the next project.

As for the LEDs, again, MrIcky is right on. You can get the hood alone from JBJ or, if you're looking for the tank, stand, and hood, you can get that from Marine Depot, Aqua Cave, or others. It's about $650 for the whole set-up or $400 for just the hood if memory serves me correctly.
