9004 skimmer. Should i upgrade?
I have a 9004 which has been great in a 35gal tank.
Now i have upgraded to a 60 gal and i wonder if i should grab that 9011 someone offered me. I have a increasing number of sps and i would like to get friends for my pair of clowns. Is the 9011 worth it over the 9004? I know i will probably miss the surface skimming since i don't have a sump... but still i feel as if the 9004 is not enough. There is gunk at the surface, even with surface skimming Thanks Last edited by mclement; 12/28/2015 at 06:40 PM. |

For a 60 gallon SPS tank the 9004 could work with regular water changes and use of GFO and Carbon. Otherwise I might suggest the 9012, the 9011 is fine but being that it is venturi and not needle wheel, it is less aggressive of a performer than the new models, the 9012 is certainly much stronger.
