22K + build
I am in the early stages of increasing the size of my current setup. I received the prelim prints from the architect the other day. Two tanks at least. One is a pool, the other will probably be a fiberglass tank with a low FE or acrylic viewing panel. It think it is currently set at 15 * 6 feet for the tank, and 5 foot high to total around 3300 gal and 18 * 28 * 6 for the pool ~ 22,000 gal.
Please note. This is an indoor pool with door exiting in the rear and also access from the house. The deck with spa is an existing structure.

I have also looked at placing the entire system underground with the roof at ground level. This will save on building costs, heating and cooling. It is quasi-geothermal. The frost line in my area is only about 18 inches. Posted are photos the concept.

I am, of course, in the design stage and seeking advice. I am interviewing for a mechanical enginer to help with humidity issue and building materials.
I am hoping the you may have ideas or issues that you have come across with similar projects. Cooling, heating, water reclamation, humidity, filtration, skimming, or anything else you can add. I sincerely appreciate all input. I do not plan to do this a second time so I want to have it right from the beginning. Thanks

Hmm.. My insurance company gives me a hard time about the pool and diving board... I wonder what they would think if I turned it into a shark pond!!!

Wow!
Massive pool is becaming a trend now. Steve acropolis has a successful outdoor sps tank maybe he can help you out. He uses modded gas water heater to heat up his tank. And tinted blue glass to light up his tank with supplemental hetal halide!

I would look to the day when you don't want to have this gargantuan system anymore, and plan to use the space another way. Don't get me wrong, take this bull by the horns, but if you ever have a situation when you can't use the tanks and pools the way you want to make them now. You need to be able to convert quickly to a home that people will want to buy.
Your attention to detail is already staggering. Can't wait to see this one materialize. Aaron

What a saga it has been. After battles with the township and a neighborhood association - I was issued the permits about 2 months ago. Some prep work has been done but now everything is frozen so it will be another several months before breaking ground. There have been some changes and I do plan to post progress as it moves forward.

The dimensions of the building will be 31' * 69'. Completely enclosed. The size of the pool will be 18*32 and I think there will be a two 8' * 14' lagoons - one temperate and the other tropical. Not 100% sure on the size. They will be in in the upper level of the mechanical room. I had to hire an engineer to calculate the load and design the proper floor structure.

The big pool is about 17,000 gallons.
Each lagoon is about 1700 gallons So it is more like 20,000 gallons vs 22 k but I can't change the name of the post. 6000 gal is a helluva system too. What do you plan to put in it. You doing fiberglass or concrete?
