Water Changes
I'm sure there are a number of threads on this topic, so I hope it doesn't cause too much of a stir.
Right now, I do 20% every two weeks on my 45 gallon aquarium. I know everyone has a preference, but would I see any benefit to increasing my water changes to 10% weekly instead? |

A little more stability maybe. Instead of letting parameters get out of place by two weeks before bringing them up/down.

stability, yes but it depends if you will you experience a benefit - and by benefit, i presume you mean better coral growth and color and less algae
it depends on how much your water deviates between changes and what you pull out of the tank during a change. if you have a heavily fed tank that produces a lot of detritus you scoop up while vacuuming the sandbed, then more frequent changes should help keep n and p down. but if you have pretty pristine water, dose a proper amount of kalk, you may not have any appreciable improvement. go ahead and try it and see if you notice anything. but be forewarned, i went weekly and saw improvement. but now i dread thursdays when i need to make water for the weekend. |
