Angry Assasins

The last month I've noticed that I've been loosing snails left and right. My first thought was to blame the 3 hermit crabs that are still running around the tank since they're notorious for that, but there was a problem with this theory they seemed to have the same shell and i've never seen one of my hermits munching on a dead snail.

So with this in mind I set up to watch my tank closely the last couple of days, then today out of the blue I find out I have, not 1 but 2, freaking predatory whelks in my tank . Needless to say they are in whelk heaven now

Cought in the act

Victims remains

Don't be so quick on blaming your hermits, a mantis or a shrimp.

Yep, those snail-eating whelks are a pain...and can be in your tank a long, long time before you ever see them.

this might help eating pyramid snails but do they need a mated pair or can they hatch by themselves
