My reef runs way above normal when it comes to nutrients. PO4 and NO3 most recently tested .79 (Hanna) and 50 salifert. I’ve never run GFO or anything, and because of rock work and multiple wrasses I’ve never siphoned the sand. I only recently noticed small cyano algae in low flow areas and remove it as best I can during water changes.

Even with elevated nutrients my growth is strong, even with sps corals. That Duncan is 16 months from being just 2 headed and now has 20-25. I personally think adding a 2 stage CA reactor controlled via an Apex Ph probe is the best thing I’ve done to help my reef excel. I basically just test Alk 2x/week to make sure the reactor is “dialed in” and do 30g water changes every 10 days to 2 weeks.

Yes, finger leather. It’s slowly taking over, has almost reached the surface and is nearly 2 feet wide.

Looks great, I love the progress shots. Just curious is you run carbon since you have so many leathers and SPS?

yes, i run bagged carbon in my sump along with a CA reactor and an in-sump skimmer. began vodka dosing on 11/1/17 as well as a chaeto reactor at same time. my nutrient levels are very high.
