6105 multiple pumps stop each day

seems like the driver gets stuck.

they were ok for a while and now they keep stopping.

no blockage in the pump.

shake the pump or tap it and then it starts back up.
seems like there may be a lip on the inside of the tube the driver sits in , if the shaft / driver get out of center possibly they get hung on that ?

wondering if i will just have to replace the pumps altogether ?

If the drive units are new and the disks are in right (blue rubber down, hard plastic up), the problem has to be the shafts. Are any of these the 2 I worked on?

BTW, I would just replace the motors, not the whole thing but we may be able to find another solution.

yes the two i sent in and the two i did not, one of them is running but 3 are not.
i have an idea that this might be related to the way they are currently programmed so i am editing the settings as they may be getting to much of a stop value / low power.
the wave making profile i used might be to harsh and i am testing that first.

small update:

today so far the pumps are running !!

i am not sure why but this may be the key:

when i upgraded my neptune apex i got a new set of profiles for the pumps,
the profiles have a wavemaking pulse that has a zero power low setting.
for the first 2 weeks (approx) that was working.
but then i started to see the pumps were stopping and seemed to be stuck, i checked for blockage and found nothing and was able to restart them.
and it got worse....
so i suspect that the jarring stop/start together with some possible issues with my pump shaft centering and wear created a way to get stuck.

i changed the low end power to be 32% not zero and today they are still running.
i will see how this goes and if they need more repair or checking.

the old pump design -- was the shaft longer ? seems like it was in my memory

Yes, the old design the shaft was removable and spanned the front cover to the back half, we changed this as while the parts are molded as a pair, there is enough variation even just by the rate the plastic cools that the shaft was almost never completely straight, their is a roughly 10 db difference in noise between the old and new design, the new design eliminates this potential offset and the noise that results.

Unless the on and off cycles are really fast, it should handle off and on cycles. In the video you should me you had a double wave, you might double the time between off and on and do a single wave and see if that solves it.

yes the timing is fairly short and i am going to keep adjusting it, as of now the pumps are still on from last night. love having a nest cam i can check my tank from anywhere!

interesting bit there on why the design changed , nice to know.
