Hi Ching,

With the rock being connected together with conventional concrete, are you doing anything special to cure the concrete? Are the rock structures in FW right now? If so, for how long?

No special cure at atll.
I will just put the rock in the big tub and do heavy skimming with high flow for minimum one month.

Althoughj it is a large aquarium, those damels can become pretty nasty.

Hmmm, everything looks fine in a tank that size, but the garibaldi I'd have to say is a no-go. Undulated and Titan triggers are no match for a garibaldi. Also, the firefish are probably way too timid for a tank like that.

I bought a couple of them before reading up on them.

"Hypsypops rubicundus, commonly known as the Garibaldi, is a large, bright orange fish found in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Southern California and Mexico. The name Garibaldi comes from the Italian Army leader, Guiseppi Garibaldi, whose forces wore bright red shirts.

The Garibaldi is a member of the damselfish, or damsel, family. Of the 240 members of the damselfish family, the Garibaldi is the largest. It can grow up to 14 inches in length with the average adult around 10-12 inches."

"The Garibaldi are extremely territorial and will defend their food, shelter and nesting areas against other predators (Sikkel, 95). Although hardly menacing, the Garibaldi have been known to attack divers in defense of their nests.

Young Garibaldi are multi-colored. Their orange and red bodies are covered with iridescent blue spots. As the Garibaldi ages it begins to lose its spot and turns a deep, and bright orange (Sikkel, 97).

In 1995, the California State Legislature passed AB77. This bill designated the Garibaldi as the state marine fish. It also placed a temporary moratorium on the commercial collection of Garibaldi fish and extended a permanent prohibition on the commercial collection from Catalina's southern shores."

They are a cold water fish. The two that I purchased did not survive in my tank.

Sure thing Chingchai, that's what we're here for. But those garibaldis, beautiful fish.

With a tank that size though, you should be able to keep almost anything you want.

I'll chime in on the Garibaldi. After swimming around Catalina island and nearly catching hypothermia trying to chase some Garibaldis around, I can assure you that they are most definitely a coldwater fish.

All I can add is already said: this project is really impressive. This summer we will visit Indonesia, I hope that, in one or two years, when your tank is becoming a beautiful matured reef, we can say 'sawasdee kháp' again in front of your tank. (Whenever you visit the Netherlands: I will show you some interesting places and -tanks if you like!)

(And definitely skip the garibaldi's: they are in the zoo here, as soon as you have seen them there, you DON'T want them in your reef anymore!)

Like everyone else has been saying, WOW. This is one build thread that I am truly excited to see the outcome.

I would like to add something to the Garabaldi topic: There is a Rainforest Cafe nearby that I go to every once in a while, and in their main tank they have adult, around a foot long, that has been in there for many years. I cant imagine that the tanks are less than 75 degrees because of the majority of the other fish are all warm water species(large angels, tangs, & triggers). Now I am not saying that you should get one, but simply saying that you can keep them at warmer water level.
