Angler fish diet

I am looking to get a angler for my tank the only problem is I don't know what to feed them. Would they be fine getting fed minnows from the ocean after I've had them in a quarantine tank or what should I try to get.

most all eat glass shrimp. saltwater minos of some variety would also be good. Eventually you want to train the angler to eat prepared foods instead of live

Ok thanks I thought I read that freshwater shrimp weren't healthy for them.

They aren't long term but you will be limited with the live shrimp that you can feed depending on where you live. Fresh water fish are particularly bad for them

Do you think that the angler would be ok in my 20g reef tank? I have a penguin biowheel a filter on it and a hob refugium. Would this be enough for the bioload of these fish or would I need a protien skimmer.

You don't really need a skimmer, but one will be good. If you dont you can do lots of water changes to remove the protein the the skimmer would pick up. You can have a warty frogfish. They grow 4 inches. Also you have a reef, correct? The frog fish will eat any fish that can fit in its mouth.

They randomly shrank and didn't look to good, the heads of them were bubbling out and they started to not open up nicely. They have been in my tank for months and have been fine. The only thing I can think of is the past couple weeks my clown has been hosting them and swimming through them and bothering them. Could this be the problem or what could?
He will be eaten in time if you do get one

They eat fish that are up to 3/4 the size of them

I have already moved my clown to a 14g biocube. Would a 14g biocube skimmer work in a 4.5-5" deep refugium?

I honestly wouldn't worry about a skimmer, just stay consistent on your water changes and be sure to do them every week or two. Whichever is convenient for you to do
