Please help me identify these copepods (microscope image)
Hey guys, I have large number of these guys on my glass. They look like non of the common copepods.
. It is not clear under the microscope but the the triangle part is actually bright red. I assume that is the gut, so it might just be what it ate. Based on what it collected under its carapace, I thing it is a phyto/algae eater. You can see lots of green algae cells under the sides of the carapace. It is also not clear due to the focus of this particular images but the mass at the back side contains many globular structures, which I assume to be eggs. An update, based on what I found out. It might actually not be a copepod but an isopod. It looks similar to grazing isopods called as sand skaters.
