Mangrove plants
I added a few mangrove plants to my refugium. They look healthy, have a few leaves and root systems. They aren't long enough to plant on the bottom and have leaves. I currently have them floating.
Is this the best? The sticky seemed to suggest planting them in the bottom, which would submerge the leaves. |

I read the sticky too. I have a couple mangroves rooted in my dirt/sand substrate. The leaves have close to a foot to reach the surface. I've had them almost seven months. I don't know if they will make it but they're doing well so far. I couldn't do the styrofoam floating thing - too hideous. So I did what I could live with.
Here's a recent pic of them:

Your tank looks great! Maybe I will try that.
I ordered a package of $25 on ebay. They look nice. I currently have them floating, but they are almost horizontal in the water. |

Thanks greg10! Mine started out as leafless, rootless pods. Now they are twice as tall and putting out roots into the substrate. I'm certainly no expert. Like you, I just read a few threads in the sticky and an article or two.
Since you have multiple specimens, you could try different locations for each and see which does the best. Just a thought. Gold luck with them!
