Would the cover for the Reefer be strong enough to keep cats out of the tank? I like the look of the rimless and don't want to have to put a canopy on it

I highly doubt it would support a cat as it is just nylon mesh.

Updated fts. Loving the tank and things are still going really well now.

Even corals that were just about dead are starting to come back.

It's amazing how clean and clear that is!

Had to look for the fish at first but do see 3 wrasses... are they getting along? I have a ruby head that must be a supermale (it's kool aid blue) and decided that after 3 years, it was going to keep the solar wrasse in the rocks at all times (with minor exception at feeding). It's unfortunate. Has no problem with the melanurus though.

Yes my ruby head is also a trouble maker and my lineatus and exquisite have been a bit shy. In the last few weeks though they have been coming out more. The ruby head also chases the blue flasher who doesnt seem to mind at all. Im planning on adding some more rock work to create some more territory and break up line of sight.

I have the following fish currently:

Lineatus wrasse
Exquisite wrasse
Blue flasher wrasse
Ruby wrasse
McCoskers wrasse
Yellow fin flasher wrasse
Melanarus wrasse
Yellow Coris wrasse
Bipartitus wrasse
Royal Gramma
Banggai cardinals
Helferichi firefish

My guess is that the added rock work won't help... but I hope I'm wrong. I had my wrasses in a 120 and the ruby beat on the solar wrasse on day 1. But then the aggression subsided for 3 years and a switch to a 300 gal. After 1 year in the 300 the ruby is aggressive again. The solar wrasse appears to have some vision issue now and I don't know if that's due to an injury or something else... and maybe that is leading to increased aggression. It's hard to say. My point is that the aggression may not ever subside. I'll also say I'm amazed at how large they do get. Mine is like a small perch... probably 6" and extremely fat. :0)

Love your build. I just ordered a 525 xl myself. I hope the fuge and reverse lighting also helped stabalize your setup.

I missed my reef and decided it was a good time to hop back in the hobby. Ive purchased the RedSea Reefer 525XL and the Geisemann Aurora light. Everything else is still TBD while I read everything I can get my hands on and talk to folks in the local reef club and LFSs.
Wow I'm also into awuascaping and thinking off going salt

How's your tank doing jmiotke? Would love to see an updated FTS of this wonderful tank.
