Duncan With Encrusting On Skeleton

I will upload pictures later, but my Duncan used to have a nice turquoise and greenish skeleton that almost matched it's disc and over the past month or so it's become covered in this purple slimy stuff. It could be coralline algae, but I was under the impression that coral skeletons typically resist algae grown on them.

My main concern is that the purple goo on it is suffocating the coral. This is the only coral I have in the tank with this issue and as you can see from another of my recent posts, I hardly have any coralline at all in my tank.

i was curious if someone else has experienced this. My Duncan hasn't looked great lately but has gone from 2-6 heads. the new heads are very small though so I've begun feeding it twice a week for some additional nutrition.

Anyone know about assessor fish? Seems cool but I haven't seen much about them on the forum

Can cyano form locally on just the coral itself? I don't have this on anything else in my tank.

I tried to blast it off with a baster but it wouldn't come off. I had to manually push my finger into it to remove it.

I've never seen a duncan look like this, most of them have nice greenish-blue stalks like mine used too. Any help would be appreciated. I don't know if i should dip this coral or not. I do have some revive.

Here's one from today, moved into a higher flow area, hopefully the stuff will slough off.
