setting up my QT

how long should i keep my filter sponge in my DT sump to jump start my QT tank? ive heard a couple days and a couple wks

I would say at least 2 weeks to be safe.

i would say best is about of 30 days. you can also use live bacteria in a bottle like instant ocean bio-spira and that will help and give you an instant cycle.

You mean like Dr tims ? what about Microbacter7?

Yes,
I'm not sure about microbactor, but Dr. tims One & Only will work as well as instant ocean biospira. Both have live bacteria in them.
I usually put a sponge in a cup and then pour the bacteria on it and let it sit for a few hours and then place inside the qt.

Ya ill do that, I dont want to wait for 30 days for a sponge to seed bacteria lol

get an ammonia badge too and stay on top of water changes and you should be good as long as you are not putting lot of fish at once in the qt. lots of water changes still gonna be your best friend
