Do fish play dead?

I just got a small blue hippo tang like tiny..and he Seems fine until I come around
And lays on his side or tries to get into the smallest cracks..this normal first couple days in tank?

Yes it’s normal. Mine still does it after 8 months it’s not tiny anymore...my majestic angel also does the same when I have to do tank maintenance..

my hippo tang is 5 years and still tries to hide where he did when he was 2 inchs...now he is 8-10 inches...I sometime sometime feel sad for him

I have an 8 inch fox face rabbit fish. Whenever I stress him out.. (which is all the time... sensitive bugger) he will swim to the side of the tank and changes colors to match the algae on the glass and sits still - I imagine a kid closing his eyes and screaming you can't see me, you can't see me... Heh.
