I've never had any luck with any kind of dwarf lion period in any kind of tank....but I've kept many Volitan Lions in a reef tank with great success.

My dwarf fuzzy is doing well in my tank so far, but it's only been a week. He's happily eating live feeder fish!

You've kept volitan in a reef that's crazy I keep reading and getting mixed signals since some say dwarf lions are aggressive and some say they arent. I was thinking of getting a pair of snowflake clowns but I dont want to loose them from the lion. What fish did you have in your tank besides the volitan?

Are all of your fish on live feeders or just the lion?

Murphreef had one on his amazing tank for a long time before he broke it down.

I wont put one on my reef since I have way to many small fish.

I have had my dwarf lion for a good year and he was in my mixed reef. I trained him to eat frozen mysis amd I picassco clowns and a small red headed goby and he never tried to eat them. Sad it died when my new tank was still get ready. I'm thinking about getting another one, but training him to eat took about a month. But he would be out in feont when iy was feeding time and all the fishes would swim bu him without no fear. That is just my experience, hope that helps some.

I can't remember which it is, but I think it's the fuzzy that have a higher survival rate in captivity. The way I see it, consider yourself lucky if you've never lost a fish that can fit inside a lion fish's mouth

BTW, the smallest fish I have in my tank are my 3 green chromis, plus I have a skunk cleaner shrimp and he hasn't tried to eat them yet. I also feed him every 3rd day, since he eats like 4-6 feeders a day!

Yup... He ate my Cleaner Shrimp but ill take that sacrifice. Other then that he's never touched my snails or crabs or my cleaner wrasse. I have him with 2 purple tangs, a yellow tang, a Male Blue Throat Trigger, and an Australian Harlequin Tusk. All in mixed reef mostly LPS and SPS dominate. He's always been a model citizen aside from the shrimp....

I built my tank as a octopus tank and after BORA my octopus died of old age me and my gf decided to just get fish since traveling to the beach every weekend to get hermits and fidler crabs became a pain and lions are my favorite fish kept in captivity to see how it works out in reefs and this was a great help I'm gonna go ahead and get one and see how it works out

Awesome! Hope it works out for you as good as it's worked for me. What else will you be keeping with the Lion?

i have had one for 2 months now and nothing is missing.. it is a relatively small fuzzy dwarf. I have very recently added a slightly larger male fuzzy lion and they seem to be getting on quite well as are all the other fish in the reef.

Hope the snowflakes are a pretty good size. If they're small enough to fit in the fuzzies mouth, he might eat them!
