140 Gal Build - DIY Heavy - Rickets Reef
I've come back to the hobby this year (finally) with a 140 gallon system. Took some time to start sharing the build again for anyone interested. I do like to DIY, mainly because I'm cheap/broke, and then try to incorporate high value inexpensive gear...also because I'm cheap/broke. So here's some screens and video links if anyone wants to watch like I love watching other peoples builds
If you prefer to watch with my bonehead commentary and get in depth howto on the DIY stuff I do provide in depth content on YouTube under my channel... https://www.youtube.com/user/1mkwiet/videos Here's the start of the madness with a pile of lumber and tools where the tank is going to go... I also have a small area in the furnace room for mix station and supplies... Threw together the tank base easy enough... Version 1 of fish room Got the rock cycling in a barrel... Started DIY'ing an Aquarium Controller... Version 1 of the controller...(it's in version 3 atm...updates soon). So far it has 12 controlled power outlets, Temperature, 7 switches (floats), LED dimming, timers for anything...soon pH and dosing. Controlled over wifi using a Raspberry Pi. Tank Stand frame is pretty much done, just need to paint then do the doors...
Added a linear actuator to lift the light holder/top Got the frame all painted....door wood is waiting for me in the garage... Almost done building the coverage/color LED panels... Got lucky and won a Radion XR30w Pro....so that's going on also... Working on the sump...it's almost done so updates on that soon. Was an old beater tank from buy/sell. That's where I am now. I have a local tank builder commissioned to make the display, and the glass should be in this week he said. It will be 60x24x22tall. I'm hoping that all the stand and life support stuff will be ready to go for the tank install coming within the next month or so. Cheers... Last edited by Bzar; 09/12/2019 at 01:24 PM. |

I've gotten the tank up and running. Almost too much to post in terms of pics and what not so I made a new video going over what's been built and is now running so far....
