My Custom 66

My old 50 gallon tank ( that's in my computer room) is starting to show it's age.
There are a ton of scratches that that have appeared.
The silicone in the corners is starting to show some issues that I'm getting a little nervous about.
I built the tank myself almost 10 years ago.

So I got in touch with my favorite glass tank builder who is at Crystal Reef Aquatics now. He built my 240, I have 5 years ago.
Told him I was looking for a new tank.
I wanted rimless and made out of 1/2" starfire glass
32" x 24" x 20"
I wanted just a simple herbie design drain with two 1-1/2" bulkheads in the right rear corner.
Standard black acrylic overflow in the corner.
Black vinyl on the back.

This is what the plans look like.

My planned equipment list is pretty much the same as my old 50 gallon tank.
The dimensions are going to be pretty similar.
My lights are a ATI T5 6 x 24 watt fixture with 2 Reef Brite XHO's.
A pair of Tunze 6055's for flow and I'm going with a Vectra S1 for my return.
My old Sea Side Aquatics CS1 skimmer will be good.
As well as my old 29" x 16" x 16" sump.
I'm using a Tsunami AT-1 for my ato.

I did build a new stand out of 1/2" maple veneer plywood with hickory trim.

Couple stand pics.
I am using the stand for my 50 gallon tank which will be replaced with the 66 when it's done.

Looking good, that is a tight space for the sump. What is the minimum size space will your
Vectra S1 fit in.I only have about 4 x 4.5 inches to work with in my sump..

Thanks.
I'm starting to get a little anxious over the length of time it's taking.
It's been 5 weeks now since I made the payment.

So, the Vectra S1 is only 3-5/8" wide, the length is 6" with the cord bent at a moderate angle. But that only leaves a 1/4" for suction room. I would be more comfortable with 7" of room.

Just got some good news.
Mike at Crystal Reef Aquatics just called me and said my tank would ready for pickup this Friday morning.
The only down side is they are now a 3 hour drive each way through Seattle traffic.
But I'm happy to make this one.

He sent me 2 new pictures.

Thanks.
I'm anxious to see how the 1/2" glass in this size tank makes the overall look.

That's wonderful. Any future plans for 240g tank? I checked all the threads you started (18 pages) but only found "My 233" . And it doesnt have recent photos of 240g. Is it a mix (LPS+SPS+Soft) tank ?

Yeah when I said my 240, it's actually 233 gallons.

My big tank is a mix of mostly softies and lps ( branching and encrusting ).
The 66 gallon will be lps and encrusting mix, with maybe 1 fish.
Not sure yet what it's going to be.

My 233 has been through some major changes twice in the last year so I haven't been taking many pictures.
Maybe once I get all the corals transferred out of it that's suppose to be in the 66 and get the frag racks out I can clean it up and take a few.

I have begun my new journey for almost 2 months. I wanna see more tank to figure out what to do with my tank in terms of coral and equipment choices.

I amnot a native English speaker, so if my words sound offensive , %100 be sure that I never meant to it Good luck in transfering corals

Got most of the corals moved in yesterday.
Still have to move some around and do some gluing.
Took a few pictures with my S9+ with a orange filter.

Took some new pictures .
Got some of the loose corals moved to a better spot. Might start gluing them down.

I got in touch with a guy I know who owns Clear Fabrications a acrylic tank manufacture in Seattle and had him make a little frag/feeding station for the corner of my rimless tank.
I found out when I had my first rimless tank there wasn't any convenient area to set things when working on the tank.
So I made a little triangle out of acrylic a few years ago. It looked kind of rough, so this time around along with the new tank I needed a nicer looking spot to set things on.

I gave him the dimensions I wanted and he made me this.
It just sits on the corner of the tank and is supported underneath so it doesn't slide in or off.
When I'm done I just put over on a shelf out of the way.
