Is that Walt Smith rock? Most, if not all of the rock I see people aquascaping is dry rock. Is it difficult to aquascape with live rock?

Thought I would share the final aquascape on my 270g (6' x 3' x 2) build. Just finished it up yesterday. Excuse the heater and powerhead on the left, those are just temporary as I still need to move some equipment over from my old tank.

Very nice. Who build your tank? How thick glass is it?

It was built by Crystal Dynamics. Glass is 1/2" front, back and sides and 3/4" on the bottom. Front and sides are starfire.

I like it.

Suggestion: Since you dont have water in it yet, drill holes in the rock for frag plugs. GO S L O W with the drill bit. Speed will heat up the rock and the bit and cause more fractures and breaks. A table top drill press at the lowest speed setting is great for this.

Changed up the aquascape... again. The more I look at the simplistic rock work in other's reefs, the more I'm drawn into the minimalistic look. So I removed about 40lbs of rock and tossed it into my sump. I also needed to make more room on the sand bed for more LPS etc.

Thanks! Already filled it. Haha

I'm not a fan of frag plugs, so I us usually take the corals off. Worst comes to worse I'll cut off the pegs of the frags. But I like your ideas. Thanks!!

It is more difficult with live rock only because you have very limited time to scape because the rock will die off quickly out of the water. ..But that is the only reason.I chose dry rock because I did not want any critters hitching a ride.My arches required a lot of putty and drying time.

This is my 25 lagoon (1st saltwalter tank). I had to make a few adjustments once it got in tank.

This is my 90 gallon that I just got finished cycling and put my clown pair into. Looking for suggestions on what I should change and everyone's thoughts.

I like it but I'm also new to the hobby and may be missing something.

Just as a point of reference...the first pic is from a little over a year ago, when the rockscape was first put in the tank and it had just cycled (here with two clowns and a couple of corals). The second pic is about one year later...
