Really ugly algae problem

Can someone help identify this and tell me which magic pill will instantly remove it without doing anything hard?

I would really appreciate that.

Thanks and happy Saturday to everyone!!!!

Looks like cyanobacteria. Siphon it out. There are products that can help but I'd avoid them if you can.

Yep..
That is cyanobacteria (not an algae)..
Looks like you have both the red and green variety.. And some brown diatoms to go along with that.. New tank?
As stated a good "natural" plan of attack is to siphon it out during water changes and turn lights off for 3 day straight every couple weeks or so until its gone..
The "pill" is chemiclean or red slime remover... Both are a powder you add.. If you use it follow directions exactly..
Some have reported bad side effects from their use.. Others don't have any problems with it..

Very common issue..

Got it.

I have had cyano before and it was a deeper purple color. This stuff is more orange red.

I red slimed before and ended up killing a couple small fish. I heard that it depletes oxygen and you ought to put some air stones in, but still didn’t seem to help.

Killed all of the cyano.

What was interesting was that when testing for phosphates pre red slime, there was zero. Once cyano was gone, they shot up.

Thanks!

I had a fight with the evil slime. Kept coming back every few weeks for over a year. Finally defeated it with chemiclean with a 36 hour blackout. Put and air stone in tank.

My phosphates were always zero.

I am doing a chemiean treatment and have three late air-stones added to the tank.

Anyone think I need more oxygen? Just concerned it may not be enough?

3 stones is plenty..

Also
Turn the lights out for 3 days. That will weaken the cyano but not cause any harm to anything else ib the tank
