Contact cement in tank
Hey all, was wondering if anyone here has used contact cement in their tanks for anything? I'm in the process of making a foam rock wall for my new 180 and I need to decide how I'm going to hold the sand to the foam. I found a couple threads on other sites where a couple people used contact cement instead of epoxy but they didn't say anything after that so I just need some assurance it would be safe once cured.

I know super glue (a la reef glue) is safe, a thin coat of that with an applicator would probalby hold sand in place.
If I were to make a suggestion, I would go for a larger "rock face" look and just use paint that's safe for the tank to get a big basalt look going, you could use tan/brown paint in notches/flats to get a sand look. No one is going to touch it, so you only need to pass the 5 foot rule. Plus paint won't flake off over time like glued on sand might. Good luck with your project! |

I found guy doing exactly what you're describing. Looks like contact cement is fine.
