Help with RODI Reservoir
I have one of these EarthMinded RainStation barrels leftover from another project. I was thinking about using it as an RODI reservoir for my new tank. I've only used it to store RODI in the past (for plants, not fish).
Seemed to work fine for my plants but I was wondering what the thoughts are on here using this as an RODI storage container for an aquarium. It is made out of HPDE resin. Link for reference - EarthMinded RainStation Barrel I have the 50g one |

I would say probably so, but you would need to confirm if it's food safe. Generally if some is food safe then it is considered reef safe.

If this truly does work out as an RODI container, they are much easier to get set up and more reliable than the Brute Can DIY (at least my attempt at the DIY). It comes with fittings and everything you need, no uniseal or need to drill a hole. No leaks and has a faucet. I got one of the last ones on clearance before Lowe's stopped carrying them in store. They are more money than the Brute can but only requires minimal setup |

The faucet may cause problems, if its brass it may leach copper or zinc into the water. If the faucet could be replaced with something that is all plastic then I would think its good to go.

After looking at it, this would be my only concern also. Other then the brass looking faucet, the container itself is fine to use.
