Performance how. Is it better at 8"? Does it get better higher, lower? Explain a little more or be a little clearer.

I just notice i get bettr skimmate when the skimmer is in 8inches of water. And i havent even done any modifications even thouh my unit came with mesh and 2 yellow pin wheels. All in all i believe this is a very good skimmer

Anybody know if these mods are good on the 300?

k, ive been running my octo extreme 250 for about one day and a half, and it is in 7-7 1/2 depth of water. it just skips so wet i cant put the rubber cork in cup cause its a constint steam of water coming from plug hole. I have skimmer opened all the way as well. is this just a break in thing or am i in to deep of water?

Is the skimmer new? Is your air line stopped up? Sometimes the air intake can have glue or plastic blocking the hole. Are there bubbles in the skimmer body? What pump/pumps are you running?

I just bought a octopus 160 xs with the new gate valve on it instead of the wedge pipe setup. The question I have is can I lengthen my water output on my skimmer to where I have it flow into my filter sock or does that change the way the skimmer will now skim?

Thanks!

How about just running a bead of Weld-0n over the crack? May not look that great but it should bond the crack together and make it waterproof.

Weldon sounds like the best idea if it works. Probably use the thinner stuff so it wicks in good. Otherwise I think you would have to contact Coralvue directly.

i dont care about the visual part of it, simple facts are its hidden in the sump which is in the stand, and it collects crap! so im not worried about the sight of it, i did patch it up with some crazy glue and silicone. all is well so far...but ill do some research, and some research on coralvue....

I forgot to mention that it keeps my PH at 8.2 since I put a hose from outside to the air intake of the skimmer to keep it oxygenated with fresh air.I have too high co2 in my home.

Try blowing into the air intake hose. Just a puff of air should get it going. What pump are you using on it? Sounds like the old sicce. I always had startup issues with that pump, so i switched to a BB hy3000, and LOVE IT..Try a blaster.......

This is the adapter you need.
417-6137 1.5inch spg x 50mm slip ($ 2.83 ea.)
I ordered from flexpvc.

InfernoST,
What's the model # of that bubble blaster ? Can you explain how you connected it to the bottom of the skimmer body ?

I used the BB HY-2000. I threaded out the hole in the bottom to 1" (Must be very careful, I heated the tap so as no to crack the acrylic), removed the volute on the BB and screwed it into the the base of the skimmer then remounted the pump to the volute. The 90 in the bubble chamber I made using a 3/4' pvc slip-on 90 with a small nipple, I sanded the nipple down so it would fit inside the volute snugly. This mod was a huge improvement over the sicce and much quieter and more reliable. I no longer have the 160, I relocated my sump outside the stand so I upgraded to the SRO-2000XP cone because I no longer had a height restriction. If you have the skills and tools it is worth the effort.

Cool mod. How did the cone compare with the modded 160? Did you notice much of a difference in the tank? Difference in performance? Amount of Skimmate? I have the 160 with a the red pinwheel and have been debating upgrading to the BB or just waiting and upgrading the skimmer.
