Yeah, would be about that, was hoping to find something like a plastic water trough or stock tank in those dimensions, found this: http://gototanks.com/dura-cast-produ...nk-501130.html but it's a bit too wide

Would like to use it as a sump in the future if I go to a bigger tank, so would get more than one use out of it.

If pondliner will hold up to salt and not pose a problem, you can build an enclosure out of railroad ties or other strong, stable sides, line it with pondliner, and run whatever you need. Koi folk are known to do this for trade show display or wintering-over of young fish in basements.

Best way to temporary hold livestock for a year? Ideas needed.
Quote:
Been a busy couple of weeks! I : 1. Bought the stock tank below because the 300G Rubbermaid was too big. 2. Drove a giant *** truck with everything I own 1000miles across country, left the tank behind and just brought the temporary tank and some live rock. 3. Set the temporary tank up and flew back to Indy. 4. Caught all my fish and drove them in my car 1000 miles across country (took nearly all day to catch the fish, left Indy at 9:30PM and arrived in Denver at 11AM... and everyone survived. 5. The tank bowed quite a bit so had to drain 90% of the water out of it and make this brace to go around it. 6. Just added the skimmer and some temporary lights for now. A week since all the fish moved and everyone looks to be doing well. rock being moved. looks savage after adding some sand first day set up. my car loaded with 2- 25G containers full of fish (the battery air pumps were surprisingly amazing btw) the bucket had a few LPS and my anemone. Everyone survived! Bracing on! Skimmer and temporary light installed Reggie the Regal saying hi. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Just an update, all working well, only issue I'm having is keeping my ATO working accurately. The water will drop .5" before it realizes and turns on the ATO pump. .5" with this surface area is a lot of water. So I can see how this can be an issue.
For now I've changed the code on my ATO to turn the pump on twice a day for 80 minutes. That's roughly 2 gallons a day with a 50mil/min dosing pump. Then going to put the ATO sensor a bit higher up in the tank and use it as a failsafe to turn the ATO pump off water reaches that level. Don't much like it, but best I can come up with. If anyone else has some input, then let me know. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
