biological film (bacteria) to fall into a reef aquarium?

Is it possible (good?) for a biological film (bacteria) to fall into a reef aquarium after a biofilter (like additional food for invertebrates) ?!

Usually its best to direct the output of a biofilter towards your skimmer to be removed..
I don't think inverts,etc.. will eat bacteria
