Temperature issue

Nothing has changed with my 210g basement sump mixed reef as far as equipment goes and my temp has shot up to 84 after being steady 78.2 for 2 years. My inkbird thermostat is set at 78 and show no fail or sticking on the 2 300w ebo jaeger heaters......I'm at a loss.

1 gyrie
Skimmer pump
4 powerheads
1 pan world 250 return pump

Basement at a constant 60 degrees

First of all, I'm really surprised that you are able to keep your 210g, tank heated with only 600w of heating with an ambient temp of 60 degrees!

Did you compare the temp with another thermometer since you deemed the Inkbird functional?
Maybe touch each Ebo Jaeger to see if they are not warm to the touch even though they seem to be off?

I would check the temp with another instrument to see if the controller is reading correctly, for the temp to raise nearly 6 degrees a heater has to be stuck on

Keep in mind only 150g of the total water volume of 350 is in basement at 60. The display is upstairs at 68 to 70 degrees. Checked the heaters and they aren't running. Going to turn off the power heads and see if that is it....driving me nuts

Check the Pan world, try putting your hand on it.
A bad bearing can cause it to run hot, or freeze up.

May I ask how you fixed it? Mines playing up at the moment, reading 25 whilst the temp slowly drops

FWIW, I have three Aqua-Medic temperature controllers which all failed in a similar way. I don't think they are made anymore under the Aqua-Medic brand, but the Inkbirds (with a couple new whistles and bells) look suspiciously similar in form and function...

The temperature probe started out reading one or two degrees higher than the true water temperature, but over time that became a ten or twenty degree delta. Never was able to find and resources to try to recalibrate the temp probes.

Couldn't fix the unit...just fixed the problem. Unfortunately lost a couple corals due to it.
