New Salfert calcium test kit
I just opened my new kit since the old one was used up. The directions have changed. The old kit called for 8 drops of cal 2 the new one is 10. With the old kit my calcium was a steady 430. I test every week. With the new kit it came in at over 500. I'm wondering if the instructions are a typo. There is no way I could be stable for two months and have a jump like that in 1 week.

Yup...I noticed it too. I figure if it was a typo they would a least post a notice of some kind. My results never changed. I check 2x week.

Ca-2 solution is a hydroxide solution to precipitate magnesium hydroxide and prevent it from being detected. The amount of it is not important as long as there is enough to precipitate the magnesium |

That makes sense. I hadn't thought of that.
