What should I do?

I enlisted in the marines about 2 weeks ago. Now the problem is.....Should I purchase an apex for my reef and control it while I'm gone (I could have siblings also control it since I most likely won't have time) or completely sell it off? I'm starting my senior year in high school, so I have a good amount of time to decide. My parents can fill the ATO reservoir.

Apex is great for monitoring your reef from away, but it wont substitute for hands on work. You might be able to tell that you have a temperature spike or low ph, but Apex cannot "fix" a problem.
Honestly unless you have (or can teach) someone who knows about reefkeeping, your best bet may be to sell. Personally I would have a lot of frustration being unable to see or handle problems, trusting someone else to make decisions for me.
Good luck to you!

+1. unless the caretaker is very interested in reef keeping, it would be better to sell it.

Sell it, after you get out of the Marines and buy a home you can always start over

First things first - Thank you for your willingness to serve!

You are going to be away for 3 or more years. The only real choice, at least IMO, is to sell it off and like mentioned above, use your time while on duty to plan on the new tank you can set up after.

Well, you could take the funds you would spend on the controller and pay one of your household to do the maintenance. They might surprise you by enjoying it.

And thank you for your service.
